I've just finished printing invitations to the Toad Woods Spring Party, taking place on Saturday, May 14th, starting at 2pm and lasting until the last guest leave. Considering that I know of eight people planning to stay over, with Jack (WINOLJ and has the badge to prove it) isn't leaving until the following Wednesday, it's looking like something of an extended affair.
With luck, I'll drop a few dozen in the mail over the next day or two. My mailing list is anything but current or thorough, so I wanted to be sure to mention it here, too. As the invitation explains, I'm running the party under what I call "Terry Carr party rules: This is an open fannish party; everyone is welcome. Please help spread the word."
Beside being the one year anniversary of my purchase of Toad Woods, the party is also taking place during the May Brimfield Antique Show, when antiques dealers outnumber the town's 3,000 residents, by a thousand or more! Traffic between Sturbridge and Brimfield is likely to be regrettable at best, so people coming from Worcester, Boston, and other points east are encouraged to stay on the Mass Pike until the Palmer exit, then go south to and through Monson from there. On the south side of Monson, turn left onto Wales Road, which is marked with a sign pointing to Hwy 19/Wales. In a little over 3 miles, Wales Road turns into Monson Road and the numbers start decreasing. Continue on to #37. If you get to Hwy. 19, you've gone .7 mile too far.
For those who really like exploring back roads, or just welcome the excuse to stop at "Eat Books" aka The Traveler Restaurant, on Interstate 84, it's also relatively easy to wind your way from Union, CT through Holland, MA to Wales. Relatively easy with a good road map, that is.
( Tax refund shopping )
( Habit-forming, in all the best ways )
( Laurie and Geri's Glorious Adventure )
( Spring, PEZ, and other Toad Woods chatter )
And so goes spring here at Toad Woods. Hope to see you at the party! In person, if possible, or in the LJ electrons if not.
