Shopping complete. Herbed cheese made; onion dip mixed; brownie slowpokes frosted; first package of puff pastry sheets cut, baked into stars, diamonds, circles, and squares, then centers removed in readiness for being filled; batch of cheese puffs tested – puff pastry wrapped around white stilton with apricots; two packages of ribs marinating; dishes washed; first floor Swiffered; prep and cooking lists made; first set of serving dishes identified; and one new piece of artwork hung.

And that's just the last 6 hours. Eggs and wild rice boiled earlier.

Gee. I'd think I was hosting a party or something. Funny, that.

The Zeppelin Hangar Housewarming starts at 2pm. It's going to be a busy morning. A fun one, too, I hope.

Sleep now. Really.

Here's the recipe I no doubt should have followed. The 39-year-old recipe in Betty Crocker's New Cookbook for Boys and Girls doesn't have the eggs to stiffen up the batter, and their fudge brownie mix has apparently changed a fair bit over the intervening decades. So mine are rather crispy under that frosting. Still reasonably tasty, though. Deb, WINOLJ, is making Buckeyes (PB&chocolate).

Correction...

What I apparently should have done was not used the oil that the packaged mix called for. There are two eggs in mine...I thought the online recipe was calling for extra eggs at my first glance at it.

Have a jolly time, you all; I had thoughts of being there, but am lounging around in town, dogsitting at a house with lots of movies I want to see (but no viable internet connection - good thing it's just around the block from home!).

My, the menu has really firmed up since you were here! Have a wonderful, and non-hectic, time.

K. [what are you filling the puff paste with?]

Some were filled with creamed spinach, topped with almonds; others had an herbed cream cheese/piping cheese blend (rather loosely based on the piping cheese recipe in Jeff Smith's Frugal Gourmet.

We starved of course. We starved so much that I never baked the ribs, or made the wild rice casserole, or served the shrimp. Something about the cobb smoked ham that Deb and Mike brought, and the crockpot full of yummy spaghetti that Tony and Suford brought, and, and, et cetera....

Now to assemble the elliptical machine I bought on my way home from Joe and Edie's. I need it more than ever thanks to the party!

I think this means you need to throw another party to use things up!
