I should have read the fine print on the label before putting the package of Grapples in my grocery cart. All the way home I marveled at living in a future where we use genetics to make apples taste like grapes only to find out they do it by bathing unremarkable apples in artificial grape flavor.

There's a distinct non-apple aroma as you cut into a Grapple, and that's rather fun. But the eating experience just doesn't measure up. For me, at least; I'll likely take a couple of them along to the NESFA Other Meeting tomorrow afternoon for amusement and curiosity value. But I wouldn't recommend them for anything beyond that, and I even told the company that before mentioning it here. Which lead to my noticing that they've misspelled Massachusetts in their state list. It's the same, standard state format you see in forms all over the web; I'm wondering how many other such lists include the state of "Massachusett". At least when I misspelled the state's name, I did so in a fannish way by leaving out the "h".

It's been a productive day, following a surprisingly busy work week. I'm all in favor of more of those.

I thought the fannish way to misspell Massachusetts would be Mahssachusetts.

Your mentioning of the state list reminded me of something I ran across when I did a stint of web-site testing for Wells Fargo. In the state list for the "Your Mortgage" area (mortgage information & access to year end statements, etc.) they didn't list any military bases, and it turns out they _Really_Needed_To_. Sorta like when I found one area that requested homeowners ALWAYS send their loan numbers & SSNs when e-mailing the company & another that said they should NEVER send that info...

When I misspell Massachusetts I leave out the "M".

It wasn't just truncated by the width of the menu, eh?

"Grapples"... *brrr* :-P I fear for our country sometimes.

I saw those things at the grocery last week, but I couldn't understand why anyone would create them, let alone purchase them. I like grapes and I like apples, but I can't say that I have any use for a grape-flavored apple, even if it had been naturally produced.
