gerisullivanI should have read the fine print on the label before putting the package of Grapples in my grocery cart. All the way home I marveled at living in a future where we use genetics to make apples taste like grapes only to find out they do it by bathing unremarkable apples in artificial grape flavor.
There's a distinct non-apple aroma as you cut into a Grapple, and that's rather fun. But the eating experience just doesn't measure up. For me, at least; I'll likely take a couple of them along to the NESFA Other Meeting tomorrow afternoon for amusement and curiosity value. But I wouldn't recommend them for anything beyond that, and I even told the company that before mentioning it here. Which lead to my noticing that they've misspelled Massachusetts in their state list. It's the same, standard state format you see in forms all over the web; I'm wondering how many other such lists include the state of "Massachusett". At least when I misspelled the state's name, I did so in a fannish way by leaving out the "h".
It's been a productive day, following a surprisingly busy work week. I'm all in favor of more of those.
