Tomorrow, Mark and Priscilla (WANOLJ) are meeting up with Joe and Edie (WAANOLJ) at the wool festival in Rhinebeck, NY. The following day they have plans in Boston. Toad Woods is between Rhinebeck and Boston, and they're going to spend the night here. Yay! I love having multiple guest rooms. Now to come up with something reasonably healthy for breakfast. Much as I'd like to make the blintz souffle recipe [livejournal.com profile] carbonel gave me, it's anything but low calorie, low fat, low carbs, or low anything else, either.

So I'll save the blintz souffle for a later, larger party, when I hope even more people will be staying over. And I'll encourage all of you to mark your calendars:

The Zeppelin Hangar Housewarming Party here at Toad Woods will take place on Saturday, November 27, 2004, starting at 2pm and going until the last guest leaves. Out-of-state guests are especially welcome to come early and stay late. Real beds in two guest bedrooms, a double-high inflatabed can go in another private area (albeit one still piled high with boxes awaiting unpacking, most likely), and the sofa is comfy for sleeping, too. Wales also boasts two B&Bs; here's a direct link to Laurel Hill. I've met Maggie, who runs the Cora Needham House; it looks charming from the outside, and lists lower rates than Laurel Hill.

It's long advance notice, but I'm also planning on an annual spring party that coincides with the May antiques festival in Brimfield. The first of these Saturday parties will fall on the one year anniversary of my purchase of Toad Woods: May 14, 2005. Coming early and staying late is welcome, again, with bed priority given to friends coming from out-of-state. Visit, party, check out the 5000+ dealers selling their wares just 5 miles away....

Bradley (BDL) is the nearest airport, though Logan (BOS) is also reasonable, and Providence (PVD) probably is, too. For those driving, Wales is 12 miles southwest of the junction of the Mass Pike and I-84. Mapquest directions are good. I'll be putting together a set of directions with commentary, too.

Hope to see you here!

The housewarming is tempting, though I'm not sure I can arrange transport ([livejournal.com profile] cattitude and I not having driver's licenses, let alone an automobile).

I hope it works for you to come. [livejournal.com profile] cattitude too, of course. While catching a ride with someone would be most economical and perhaps easiest all around, Toad Woods is within 31-32 miles of three towns with train stations (Springfield, Worcester, and Amherst), and Hartford is just a few miles further than that. With a bit of coordination/flexibility, I can make sure your transportation between the train station and here is taken care of. Especially if you come early and stay late, so I can do the shuttling myself.

It sounds like great fun. I wish we could be there, but not only is it the other side of the continent, we need to stay close to home that weekend. [livejournal.com profile] calimac's brother is coming with his girlfriend (who lives in Britain -- the brother doesn't) to meet the family. We're all hoping that she's The One.

I am shocked. Where are the zepplin docking instructions?

WIsh we could come. Sometime we will.

Bradley's perhaps slightly more convenient than Providence, but not by much: either would do easily to get to where you are. Logan, on the other hand, isn't convenient to anything.

I'd like to come; it would sort of make sense if I go to my sister's in Connecticut for Thanksgiving... if I'm not recovering from foot surgery....

Didn't I say I was going to be putting together a set of directions with commentary? Can I interest you in writing that part?

Yes, it would make sense...well, depending on exactly where in Connecticut, etc, but the states are small out here.

I hope you get the foot surgery if and when you need it, but I hope it works in such a way that you can come the party, too!

I have scheduled the surgery for November 3rd, and if I'm not reasonably functional by Thanksgiving, I will be quite unhappy.

You might by now, unlike my regular LJ readers, know the location of the original injury about 12 years ago: on the steps leading down into the independent bookstore Wordsworth in Harvard Square, Cambridge MA. The kind of twist that you don't know how it happened, which resulted in what I interpreted as a sprain in the ball of the foot. It happened at least twice in the following years, and the joint has since degenerated to causing a low level of chronic pain. Just enough to keep me from doing active things I mean to. And probably causing a limp which contributes to aches & pains all over.

More than you wanted to know....
