Shopping Report: Follow-up

Remember that dress I picked up for $33.99, not even knowing it was on sale until the price showed up on the charge screen? Well, I received my Macy's bill today, and the story gets even better.

The $33.99 dress When I walked up to the Macy's cashier, I thought I was going to pay $119 for this party dress (with jacket). Turns out it was on sale, and then they gave me another 15% off for using my Macy's charge account. The amount on the sales receipt = $33.99. Then the bill came. Turns out I had at $25 credit on my account. Who knew? I hadn't used it in over 5 years; I don't remember why I had a credit. Found money. Yay! Does that make this my $8.99 dress? Presumably not, but who knows when I would have cashed in that $25 credit otherwise.

Had my own shopping treat today: went into a store having a 50% off sale on an impulse. I spotted some high-neck ribbed sleeveless tank-ish tops (perfect for work in Melbourne hot weather) that reminded me a lot of a similar design I'd seen in a more upscale store and had bought for $25.99. When I flipped the rack for my size, I saw that the labels were cut out but they were definitely the same as the upscale store. They were marked $19.99 so I got two more, each for $9.99! Until I saw these cut-out labels I hadn't realized the store was a discount outlet but now I definitely plan on going back more often :->

I'd be careful with that dress. At the rate it is racking up credits and bargains, if it kept on, it could bankrupt western civilization. Then again, you would feed everyone in the fan lounge, so it would be okay.

Many thanks. I'll immodestly mention that I had a similar reaction. The picture is okay, but I've been more than a tad croggled by how many people are complementing my appearance based only on what they've seen here as opposed to seeing me in the dress in person.

Croggled in a nice way, but still croggled.
