...with 2 meg cable high-speed.

I have a cable modem, and it seems to be working. For my next trick, I'll find out if it still works when I connect through the router rather than straight to the computer.

And for my trick after that, I need to move my domain management to an ISP that supports SSL email. Far as I can tell, Winternet doesn't. My cable company is sending clear text signals. Way too leaky for my taste. Panix, here I come.

(Until then, I can use dial-up for email. Thank goodness for nationwide long distance bundled with one's phone service.)

Geri, Send your e mail address. I'm not very good at this thing and I'm using a new machine I just got. When I joined the cult I did a short autobiography. Listed 42 jobs or trades I'd worked at. In l943 I had three jobs in one week -- none of them related to what I'd done before. Seriopusloy I've done a little of almost everything. I need to have Chad come over and raise the type size on this. I can barely read it. Years ago I installed a humidifier on Roger Sims furnace that didn't have one. Two years later it failed. To avoid going outside in the middle of the winter I fixed it over the phone and had it running in an hour. Ten years ago my daughter's water heater gave out at midnight the night before Xmas. I told her "for God's sake don't call a plumkber" The next morning her son in law got a new heater from his uncle who owned a hardware. I'd hurt my leg so they helped me down the basement steps. I sat o0n the bottom step and gave instructions .. and in 45 minutes minutes we had it installed, then they had to help me up the steps so I coulod go home & Chery could cook Xmas dinner. Howard

Yup.

I think you're right about Winternet. Pity; it's not hard to give the option of SSL security for email.
