My neighbor has a snow blower...

gerisullivanA mere inch fell between the time I shoveled last night and when Plow Guy did the driveway. That made for an effortless push-push on the my bits of the work today. It's easy to appreciate a sparkling diamond covering of snow under such conditions.. But then...then I made my way up the driveway to the mailbox.
When snow falls in more moderate quantities, Plow Guy clears the way so the mail car can pull up to the mail box. That didn't work so well after the 10.5 inches last Thursday -- the box remained out of reach and empty until I shoveled it out Saturday afternoon. Yep, sure enough, there was another tall pile of snow and icy chunks as only a road plow can leave. It wasn't as deep as before -- mail in the box was proof of that. But the pile still needed to be carved back.
I set to the task, immediately noticing the difference between Sunday's 7 inches of snow'n'ice and the fluffy stuff that fell Thursday. Ooomph. It started out brutal and was obviously going to only get worse. I picked up several large chunks, heaving them as far as I could, and contemplated walking back down the drive for my coal shovel. It can handle snow that a typical snow shovel can't, which is why it spends the winter in my car.
I stopped to catch my breath and waved at my neighbor Ed. He was out with his snow blower, clearing his drive. A few moments later he called to me: "Let me get my 4-wheeler and plow that!"
"Okay! Thanks!"
He walked his snow blower over instead. It took several passes back and forth, each pass carving more off the snow'n'ice mountain, blowing it high and far into the trees separating our properties.
Neighbors. Neighbors with snow blowers. Yay!
