If I'm ever tempted to be scared of Darth Vader, I remember:
1) the con masquerade entry of Darth Vader's Mother (this was long before Phantom Menace, and this mother looked just like him)
2) The cartoon, possibly Gilliland's, of Grand Moff Tarkin glancing over his shoulder and saying, "Oh, it's you, Vader. I thought it was the air conditioning."
What I want to know is when DV became a cuddly kind of thing for pre-schoolers? Or is it like the affinity of pre-schoolers for dinosaurs: since they are small and vulnerable, they enjoy identifying with something that isn't small and vulnerable.
