Soundtrack of your life meme

Gaacked from [livejournal.com profile] davidlevine via [livejournal.com profile] bohemiancoast and a dozen or more others....

So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool...

Opening Credits:"Napoleon Crossing The Rhine" from For All The Good People by The Golden Ring. Instrumental.

Waking Up: "45 Years" from Home in Halifax by Stan Rogers

"I'm caught out of time, my blood sings with wine, I'm running naked in the sun. There's God in the trees, I'm weak in the knees, and the sky is a painful blue....

"And I just want to hold you closer than I've ever held anyone before...

"After 23 years, you'd think I could find a way to let you know somehow, that I want to see your smiling face 45 years from now."

First Day At School: "Workin' Joe," also from Home in Halifax by Stan Rogers

Doesn't fit overall. One of the exceptions: "Living for the minute, taking every hour in it."

Falling In Love: "Wilson Bridge" from Chandra's Vision by Conduit

Jazz instrumental, Ted White's band. The variations on a theme fit, as do the interesting places each riff goes.

Breaking Up: "Bridges" from Josh White, Jr's Live album

Hmmm...I detect a theme here. Love is a bridge to be crossed? Hope not!

Prom: "House-Husband's Lament" from Alloy by Boiled in Lead

Well, I did go to three senior proms, and on one occasion went on the day-after trip to Lake Michigan with a different date than I'd had the night before, but no pregnancies resulted from any of them, thank goodness!

Life is Good: "Bulgarian Boogie" from Square Dance Messiah by Hypnotic Clambake

Another instrumental, a tad frenetic, but still upbeat.

Mental Breakdown: "Little Creek" from from For All The Good Peopleby The Golden Ring. "Row the little creek, just for love. See that gal of mine."

???

Driving: "Just By Myself" from In the Hills of California by Greg Brown.

"Gonna be happy by myself. Happy happy."

True enough in regard to road trips, much as there are a few people I enjoy travelling with from time to time. Now, if only I had "Witchita" by The Billy's on my laptop....

Flashback: "I'm Under Your Spell" from Once More, With Feeling by Tara

"I saw a world enchanted, spirits and charms in the air."

The synthesia was fun, too.

Getting Back Together: "No One Can Stop Me When I'm Out to Be Good" from Josh White, Jr's Live album

I can't eek anything out of this one.

Wedding: "One for My Baby" from Cortelia Clark by Josh White, Jr.

"I'm feeling so bad, please make the music dreamy and sad."

Paying the Dues: "Canada's Really Big" from Live Bait by The Arrogant Worms

???

The Night Before The War: "Variation Ix. (Canon At The Third)" from Bach: Goldberg Variations Johann Sebastian Bach

Final Battle: "Rexroth's Daughter" from In the Hills of California by Greg Brown.

It's the coldest night of the winter, workin' on my farewell...."

Moment of Triumph: "Chapter 18" from The Quite Remarkable Adventures of The Owl and The Pussycats by Eric Idle

"Yin and Yang stood trembling in the firelight before the Fire Lord's hearth...."

There's triumph buried within, but other chapters would have served better.

Death Scene: "Call Me Darling" from Josh White, Jr's Live album

"Call me darling, call me sweetheart, call me dear....with your dark eyes so smiling, and the promise I see on your true lips....

"...and we'll find a paradise that lies in your eyes..."

And here iTunes could have easily come up with The Flash Girls' "Death on Hennepin"....

Funeral Song: "The Wine With the Stars In It / Mr. and Mrs. O'Mara" from Play Each Morning, Wild Queen by The Flash Girls

Yeah, right, now they show up. I don't have Elton John's "Funeral For A Friend" here, so the right song didn't have a chance, but still.

End Credits: Allies Land in Normandy" from Toast by The Arrogant Worms

Well, it's credits and patter, but I'll opt for the next shuffle tune: "Honeydew Melon Rag" from Give in Kind by Guy Davis.

I don't have that much on iTunes, but you'd think that with 42 albums and several single cuts to shuffle between, there wouldn't have been quite so many repeats. And that there might have been just a bit more serendipity given 690 songs to choose from.

Then again, I supposed I should be grateful that none of the Lou and Peter Berryman tunes showed up. Especially since I only have Songs of Wisconsin on my laptop.
