Wow, those are beautiful pictures. I especially like the last one from your neighbour's driveway.

Too bad this beauty is so destructive.

Oh, *very* nice! Good berries.

We apparently missed the ice by about 5 miles...and North Andover (next town north/west of us) has no power...

I'm feeling very blessed.

How glorious.

And you mentioned being relieved that your bent-over birches had straightened up all right, and I remembered this:

Ice-covered plants are so beautiful and so dangerous! I'm glad your ice is melted. Our weatherguy just mentioned the storm up there.

Clearly, you need to escape that hellish climate for a bit. I suggest a trip to a temperate location - Minneapolis would be my recommendation.

HTH.

I shall take your advice immediately!

For values of "immediate" that involve driving out of New England on Monday and/or Tuesday, seeing family in Michigan on the way, and arriving in Minneapolis along with [livejournal.com profile] carneyjack on Thursday or Friday evening around a latish dinnertime most likely.

I trust that, having made this recommendation, you will see to it that Minneapolis is a temperate clime, as promised.

L&K,
Geri

Oh. That's perfect. Thank you. I knew it not before now.

So was I once myself a swinger of birches.
And so I dream of going back to be.
It's when I'm weary of considerations,
And life is too much like a pathless wood
Where your face burns and tickles with the cobwebs
Broken across it, and one eye is weeping
From a twig's having lashed across it open.
I'd like to get away from earth awhile
And then come back to it and begin over.

One could do worse...

I will guarantee that the climate in Minneapolis will be temperate (in comparison to, say, Antarctica).

We used to call that a silver thaw in Oregon. Very beautiful, very dangerous.
