There's a new yet familiar sound here at Toad Woods. It's the washing machine going through its cycle. I connected the dryer vent hose on Monday. Ghu knows why the house came without one. Today, I waited all of 10 minutes (maybe) after the water treatment system installation was done, then started the washing machine. That was the second "water, not rusty nails" celebration of the day: the first was drinking a tall glass of water. Drawn from the tap. Yum.

Doing the laundry is a tad on the risky side -- the pipes have five months of iron build-up on them, and it's likely to take most of a month for the last of whatever is going to come loose to do so. But the temptation...the temptation was too great. Beside, I wanted to welcome the berm filter, neutralizer, and water softener to their new home here in the basement of the Zeppelin Hangar, and what better way to do that than putting them to work?

My friends will be relieved to know that I'm no longer likely to show up with loads of dirty laundry. The laundromats in Worcester and Monson didn't get enough of my business to notice the loss. Sounds like a win all around to me. Well, except for my bank account....

I read that as herm filter at first, which didn't seem unreasonable given the plethora of 'female' and 'male' connectors that exist. Indeed, I was rather disappointed to realise my mistake.
